Executive Summary
Toronto, Ontario, July 7th, 2025: Acclaim Ability Management Inc. has joined forces with Seneca Polytechnic to develop a cutting-edge AI-powered document processing system aimed at streamlining their high-volume, multilingual workflow.
Handling a large volume of diverse documents, like emails, attachments, digital uploads, faxes, and more in both English and French, and often containing sensitive medical and legal information, Acclaim was eager to enhance efficiency and accuracy through advanced technology. Over four months, Seneca’s Applied Research team, led by Principal Investigator Professor Viji Angamuthu (School of Software Design & Data Science, and School of Management & HR), together with research assistants Kannav Sethi and Luis Agreda, designed and implemented a scalable AI workflow system tailored to Acclaim’s needs.
Using advanced text recognition and open-source technologies like Donut (Document Understanding Transformer), the system analyzes document images and extracts information accurately across formats and languages.
The AI model, built from end-to-end by the Seneca team, is now being integrated into Acclaim’s operational systems. A pilot launch is planned for fall/winter 2025, with potential expansion as more documents are processed. Additionally, Kannav Sethi will continue his journey at Acclaim as a Data Scientist and AI Engineer intern following this project.
Acclaim is embracing AI to streamline operations and better serve its clients. By integrating intelligent tools that boost speed and accuracy, the company is strengthening its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and exceptional service. This forward-looking approach ensures Acclaim remains a trusted partner in the evolving world of disability management.
