Responsibilities
- Utilize specialized occupational therapy knowledge and skills to encourage/facilitate activity of daily living skills, productivity and leisure
- Provide individualized assessment and intervention as well as program planning/implementation, policy development, consultation and education as part of an interdisciplinary team and with families
- Consult with the physician and any other health care individual involved, to define the appropriate plan of action of the specific individual’s case
- Assess individuals upon admission and an ongoing basis and assists in developing treatment care plans
- Determine requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy and precautions to be taken that are compatible with physicians’ orders
- Implement key analysis such as worksite analysis, ergonomics, assistive recommendation, cognitive assessment, cognitive therapy, functional capacity evaluation and various other Occupational Therapy assessments
- Ensure that Individuals are involved in identified therapeutic programs, which meet specified goals
- Provide ongoing analysis of individual’s progress towards identified goals
- Documents pertinent information as it relates to the delivery of Occupational Therapy services
- Recognizes variations in the continuum of health by implementing Occupational Therapy interventions, which promote, maintain and restore health, prevent disease and injury and provide comfort
- Ensures that the practice of Occupational Therapy is conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics as stipulated by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapist, and all provincial regulatory bodies
- Understands and complies with the legal requirements of licensure, legislation, scope of practice, and policies and procedures of the company
- Enforce safety rules and ensure careful adherence to physicians’ orders
- Protects the individual’s belief and values
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science, Occupational Therapist (B.Sc., OT) required
- Must be registered/licensed with appropriate professional regulatory college (e.g., Ontario applicants must be registered with COTO)
- Experience in program development and consultation at the individual and program level would also be an asset
- Education and experience specific to the Client population (e.g., palliative care, pediatrics, orthopedics, neurology) an asset
- ADP (Assistive Devices Program) authorization status an asset
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
- Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations, and with various individuals or groups
- Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, critical thinking and time management
- Able to generate new solutions and develop creative improvements
- Commitment to service excellence including continuing education and continuous quality improvement
- Demonstrated ability to assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respecting their confidentiality and privacy and communicating in a courteous and respectful manner

Responsibilities
- Advise on job performance methods and practices to minimize risk of stress to workers and reports deviations from established or legislated methods or practices to management
- Access the functional health and wellness of workers by collecting job and employee related data through observation, measurements or interviewing
- Analyze data to identify the functional profile of the worker and the impact of the work setting on the person
- Act as a counsellor by advising or counselling employees on health or lifestyle related matters for prompt RTW
- Promote awareness of health and safety issues by assisting with employee orientation and training by publishing articles or by posting notices
- Monitor and assess the affect the work environment has on employees
- Participate in the occupational health maintenance program through various activities such as pre-employment, periodic assessments, annual physical examinations, arranging or completing routine tests and measurements
- Attend to injured or disabled workers by providing administrative assistance, and arranging any necessary resources or changes to policy and procedures
- Ensure first aid preparedness by maintaining adequate stock of first aid supplies and replenishing first aid stations
- Coordinate the company physiotherapy program
- Attend and chair a variety of committees such as Health and Safety, Ergonomics and modified Work planning as needed by client
- Prepare and maintain job related records, reports and other assigned documents
- Comply with ethical, professional and legal requirements based on the client policies and procedures, as well as Federal and Provincial legislative regulations
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management
- Stay current with disability and wellness practices
- Participate in required meetings, providing input and suggestions
- Liaison with the HR processionals within the client group
- Liaison with medical professional regarding the case management aspect of the role
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, Social Work or Social Sciences
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in disability management, human resources, employment services and/or social services
- Minimum 2 years’ experience servicing individuals with disabilities
- Membership in the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRA)
- Good standing with respective college and/or association
- Accreditation or certification in disability management would be considered an asset, i.e., Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC), Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC), Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC), Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE)

Requirements
- Strong customer service experience with the ability to build and manage relationships both internal and external.
- Possess an understanding of medical terminology, concepts, accommodation and return to work.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment.
- University or college graduate who has graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. The candidate must be a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program. The position will be a first full-time employment in the candidate’s field of study.
