Anger, Frustration and Impatience-Is this how you feel during your drive to the cottage?

Toronto, ON (May 20, 2005)-On the eve of Canada's first holiday weekend of the 2005 summer season ACCLAIM Ability Management Inc. would like to offer driving tips to reduce stress and fatigue while making the trek to the cottage.

Before you leave make sure you:

  • Bring games and healthy snacks for the kids to keep them occupied;
  • Play music you enjoy to keep you in a positive frame of mind; and
  • Make sure your seat is properly adjusted where your feet reach the pedals with ease and your elbows and shoulders in a relaxed position.

While on the road:

  • Keep in mind that while you can't control other drivers' behaviour, you can control your attitude and the environment in your vehicle;
  • If at a standstill take the opportunity to stretch your neck with forward bends,
  • side-to-side bends and turning left and right; and
  • If your drive is long, take regular breaks to walk around and stretch your muscles.

ACCLAIM Ability Management Inc. works with transport and bus companies providing assessments and health and wellness programs for their drivers. One element of the program includes tips for drivers.

ACCLAIM Ability Management Inc. is a national leader in disability management services for over a decade.
