FORGET THE CANDY, HOW ABOUT A NEW CHAIR FOR ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS DAY

Toronto, ON (April 27, 2005)-Before you give your administrative professional a gift of candy or flowers this International Administrative Professionals Day, consider the gift of a healthier workstation.

Administrative Professionals spend a lot of time in front of their computers; that is why ACCLAIM Ability Management Inc. is suggesting you honour your Administrative Professional today by making sure their workstation is a healthy workstation. Some ergonomic guidelines include:

  1. Chair-Sit back in your chair using the backrest as support. Adjust the lumber support so that it sits in the lower portion of your back. Make sure your feet rest flat on the floor. Your seat should swivel for tasks that involve lateral movement.
  2. Monitor-Your monitor should be arms length away from your face and the top of your screen at eye level. From there you can tilt the screen accordingly. Also, monitors should be turned 90 degrees from light sources.
  3. Keyboard-Your keyboard should be placed slightly below seated elbow height. Your wrists should be held in a neutral position and wrist rests should only be used to support your wrists during pauses between typing.

A healthy workplace is key to a happy workplace. These tips will help administrative staff avoid muscle tension, eye strain, shoulder and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis.

ACCLAIM Ability Management Inc. is a national leader in disability management services for over a decade.
